The excellent outcomes of ACTION were further confirmed by the much-anticipated new Heart Failure subanalysis. The results show that Adalat® (nifedipine GITS) significantly reduces the risk of new overt heart failure in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). There are also impressive new findings from the risk score, safety, atrial fibrillation and coronary calicification subanalyses. Furthermore, the hypertensive subgroup analysis shows that the addition of Adalat® to existing therapy for CAD provides significant benefits in patients with CAD and hypertension.
